It is a treasure of the Adelaide Hills, and beloved by locals and tourists alike. The Bridgewater Inn is only a 20 minute drive from the Adelaide CBD, yet you wouldn’t know it from the country setting. It is an amazing piece of local history and a delightful place for bring the family.

The Bridgewater Inn is one of the Explore Adelaide team’s favourite places for a meal. Over the course of this article, we’ll tell you why.

The Menu

The Bridgewater Inn boasts an extensive menu filled with local produce to suit all tastes. From succulent steaks to delectable desserts, the menu will not disappoint. The menu has been designed to cater for a range of people.

If you require a meal that’s free of animal products or you have an allergy, you should be able to find a suitable and delicious dish on their carefully prepared menu.

To top off an already amazing menu, you’ll find all items are reasonably priced. Regardless of if you go for lunch, dinner or simply coffee and dessert, your trip to the Bridgewater Inn won’t break the bank.

At our last visit we tried the Paroo Kangaroo Fillet, Rib Eye Steak.  For desert we tried the Hot Chocolate Brownie, Sticky Date Pudding, and Apple and Blackberry Cobbler. Everything we ordered was amazing.

The Setup

During the warmer months the Bridgewater Inn has the beer garden outside open for diners. This charming and grassy garden area is situated next to Cox Creek. It is the perfect spot for the kids to play on the grass and by the creek. It is also the perfect spot for a relaxing al fresco dining experience.

The views of the creek and surrounding vegetation of the Adelaide Hills make it a truly beautiful spot to enjoy your meal.

The Bridgewater InnIf you’d prefer to sit indoors or if the weather has turned cold, then you’ll absolutely love the indoor Cellar restaurant. With open fires to keep you warm while you eat, its hard to fault the indoor dining experience either. There are a selection of toys inside for children to play with, so they’ll be happy with it too.

Events and Functions

The Inn frequently hosts family fun days and exciting events. During the holiday periods there will always be something fun planned, and once a year they hold a family fun day in the beer garden with delicious food and entertainment. If you’d like to find out more about their events, check out our event calender, or search the Bridgewater Inn website.

You can work with the function coordinator to tailor their packages to suit your needs and make your next party the best yet.

Location of the Bridgewater Inn

The Bridgewater Inn is located just a short drive from the freeway at 387 Mt Barker Rd in Bridgewater. You have the option of a simple drive along the freeway, or a windy country drive through the Adelaide Hills to get there.

We highly recommend driving through the Adelaide Hills to see the beautiful scenery along the way. It’s the perfect location for both convenience and country views.

What else is Nearby?

If you’re looking to add a little more to your delicious dinner, you could follow it with a family trip to the Bridgewater playground next door. The Heysen Trail is close by, so why not take yourself for a peaceful walk after lunch.

Following the Heysen Trail along Cox Creek will take you along the old Bridgewater Mill aqua-duct, under the rail line and freeway, to Mount George Conservation Park.

Mount George is a lovely place for a hike up the hill, or a leisurely walk around the lake, just make sure keep an eye out for snakes in the warmer months.
